Goals:
- Know different mobile devices available in the marketplace
- Recognize technological differences among them
- Evaluate possibilities of each of technological solutions available
- Understand the operation of different operating systems available in the marketplace
- Know main software development systems for mobile devices
- Analyze, understand and solve problems and troubles in application development in devices with limited resources
- Build valid applications on such systems
Content:
Mobile devices technologies:
- Kinds of devices: PDA, SmartPhone, MiniPc, HandHeld, etc
- Architecture
- Specific processors
- Input/Output methods
- Storage technologies. Flash-ROM memories: Compact Flash, MMC, SD, etc.
- Communication interfaces: serial port, USB, irDA, Firewire, WiFi.

Software for mobile devices:
- Specific Operating Systems: Windows CE 3.0, Palm OS, Symbian.
- Development Environments and SDKs: Embedded Visual C++, .Net Compact Framework, C++ for Symbian, Java

Specific Applications. Use Cases:
- Mobile devices and GPS
- Invoicing remote systems
- Ubiquitous office
